Welcome to my stiching post!
This page is a collection of anything quilted or sewn.
In 1993 a new quilt shop opened in Grass Valley, California. I had never sewn anything before, but I was eager to learn how to quilt. A dear friend gave me my first sewing machine; a White she had found at a yard sale. I visited the quilt shop and signed up for the Double Irish class. With new tools and materials in hand I began my first patchwork quilt.
A few years later I was forced to put my quilting on hold when I moved to Texas and started college. I continued to admire quilting, but only had time to visit shows and browse local shops between my studies. As time went by my passion continued to grow. Today with degree in hand I have once again made time for my hobby.
As my passion grew, so did my stash! I tend to start more projects than I finish and I have stacks of fat quarters and yards of fabric to keep me busy for the next few decades. I've rarely visited a quilt shop I didn't like and my "stash" is proof of that. My dearest friend, Mary has always stood by my side to support my fabric addiction and to convince me I need just one more pattern and that stack of fat quarters to go with it!
I have met some wonderful quilters in my area and joined the Red River Quilter's Guild of Wichita Falls, Texas. Through the guild I heard about a sewing group at the hospital and I now volunteer my time there as well.
To help support my quilting habit I recently opened an online quilt shop at StitchingDepot.com. I still don't have as much spare time as I'd like for my quilting, but I manage to fit it into what little time I do have. I still own my first sewing machine and someday my daughter will get her first quilting lesson on it.
